Jayme Becker and Mike Steigmeyer are with WLKI's Andy St. John to preview the 12th Annual Stomp Out The Stigma Mental Health Awareness 5k-Run/Walk, to benefit New Hope Clubhouse.

Proceeds from this event go to New Hope Clubhouse and will be used for the continued growth of Clubhouse's educational resources/facilities. Clubhouse assists its members in achieving their educational and career goals, including acquiring their GED.

New Hope Clubhouse is located at 304 South Lincoln Street in Kendallville, IN. The clubhouse is a voluntary program for adult men and women who are recovering from mental illness. Member of Clubhouse work side-by-side with staff as coworkers and colleagues to operate Clubhouse. All work at Clubhouse is designed to help members regain self-worth, confidence, and promote recovery. Clubhouse serves the Indiana Counties of DeKalb, LaGrange, and Noble, and Steuben.

Clubhouse members volunteer their time to maintain Clubhouse. Working together with staff, members are able to derive a sense of accomplishment, build skills, and establish relationships. Members are encouraged to take on leadership roles, initiate tasks, and participate in all decision making. Clubhouse members and staff are also active in promoting the rights of the mentally ill, and in erasing the stigma that often separates them from their neighbors.
