(BRONSON) – Voters in the Bronson Community Schools District said No to a bond proposal on Tuesday.

At the polls, voters in the School District cast 676 NO votes to 634 YES votes to a request from Bronson Schools to borrow up to $32.3 million through general obligation bonds to do needed upgrades and enhancements.

Projects that would have been funded by the bond include a building addition and renovations at the current Anderson School. That would have included a secure entry/vestibule and main office area; additional classrooms to house all students in grades K-5; a full size gymnasium; a media center; and dedicated art and music rooms.

The funds would have also been used to convert the 6 lane yardage track to an 8 lane metric track, along with new tennis courts.

The Bronson Board of Education said they put this proposal together to take care of the needs of the District, and to minimize the financial impact on the citizens of Bronson.
