AUBURN, Ind. (WLKI)- DeKalb County Pink Out will hold its third annual Survivors Celebration Luncheon on Friday, Oct. 9.
The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse, 311 Veritas Drive in Auburn. It is free for breast cancer survivors.
Organizers say the luncheon is intended to provide survivors with an opportunity to celebrate their strength, resilience and hope while connecting with others who understand the experience of a breast cancer diagnosis and recovery.
The event will include a complimentary meal, survivor stories and a presentation by Deanna "Dee" Sipe, a nurse practitioner with Parkview Integrative Medicine.
Sipe has worked with Parkview Integrative Medicine since 2013 and focuses on helping patients improve their quality of life through lifestyle-based care and self-advocacy.
Author, journalist and inventor Lisa F. Crites will also attend for a signing of her book, "Beautifully Unbroken: A Life-Changing Invention Born of Loss, Cancer, Courage and Faith."
Crites' book shares her experience with cancer, loss and recovery, as well as the creation of The Shower Shirt, a medical garment designed to help patients protect their health and dignity during recovery.
Attendance is limited to 100 breast cancer survivors, and reservations are required.
