DEKALB COUNTY, Ind. (WLKI)- A 32-year-old Kendallville man wanted on a nationwide extradition warrant was arrested Monday afternoon in Garrett following an investigation involving Indiana State Police and the Garrett Police Department.
According to Indiana State Police, officers arrested Ryan J. Kilburn at approximately 1:50 p.m. Monday, Aug. 10, after locating him at the Shell gas station on State Road 327, also known as Randolph Street, in Garrett.
The warrant for Kilburn's arrest was issued by the Indiana Department of Correction and stemmed from a theft case originating in Noble County.
Police said investigators worked with several individuals and received assistance from members of the public while attempting to determine Kilburn's
whereabouts. Officers also utilized social media as part of their efforts to locate him.
The investigation eventually led officers to the Shell station in Garrett, where Kilburn was located and taken into custody.
Police said Kilburn was arrested without incident.
Following his arrest, Kilburn was transported to the Noble County Jail, where he remains in custody.
Indiana State Police credited the assistance of Garrett Police Chief Heffelfinger and officers with the Garrett Police Department in helping locate and arrest Kilburn.
The arrest brings Kilburn into custody on the nationwide extradition warrant connected to the Noble County theft case. Court proceedings and any additional
charges or sentencing related to the underlying case will be handled through the appropriate authorities in Noble County.
