(INDIANAPOLIS) - Hoosiers who owe back taxes can now determine whether they qualify for Indiana's upcoming Tax Amnesty 2026 program.

The Indiana Department of Revenue announced the launch of an online eligibility tool that allows individuals and businesses to check whether they qualify for the limited-time amnesty program scheduled to run from July 15 through Sept. 9.

The state is partnering with United Collection Bureau to offer the program, which allows eligible taxpayers to pay overdue taxes and receive waivers on penalties, interest and collection fees.

The amnesty program applies to eligible tax liabilities administered by the Department of Revenue or Motor Carrier Services for tax periods before Jan. 1, 2024.

Taxpayers can use the eligibility tool through Indiana's INTIME online tax portal. Beginning July 15, eligible participants will be able to enroll in the program, make payments or establish payment plans through the system.

To qualify for a payment plan, eligible tax liabilities must total at least $100 for individuals and $500 for businesses.

The Department of Revenue says taxpayers may also be contacted directly by the agency or United Collection Bureau if they qualify for the program.
