(ANGOLA) - Applications are now open for artists interested in participating in the Arts in the Parks festival set for Saturday, June 6.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Commons Park, located at 299 South John Street in Angola.
Organizers say the festival will feature artist booths, live demonstrations, food, and live music throughout the day. Planned hands-on activities include pottery wheel demonstrations, bath bomb making, painting, candle dipping, weaving, and other creative experiences.
Live music is scheduled from Hoosier Hill, a youth band, along with performances by Betsy Serafin and Bill Eyster, a jazz guitarist, and Hunter Smith.
The event is free and open to the public. Families are encouraged to attend. Commons Park includes several acres of space, playgrounds, and a designated area for bouncy houses.
Organizers say the festival provides artists an opportunity to showcase their work in a park setting while allowing attendees to purchase art and take part in creative activities.
The annual festival is held in partnership with the Angola Performing Arts Academy and Angola Parks and Recreation. Proceeds support youth arts programming.
Free-will donations will be accepted at the registration tent.
Artists can apply through May 25. For more information, email Angolapaa@gmail.com or call 260-668-9453. Angola Parks and Recreation can be reached at tgriva@angolain.org or 260-665-1588.
