(AUBURN) - A new coffee shop is creating big crowds--and traffic headaches--in Auburn.
Dutch Bros opened its new location last week, and long lines of cars quickly backed up onto nearby streets and into surrounding business lots.
Auburn Police say off-duty officers have been directing traffic, with additional signage posted to keep driveways and entrances clear.
Police Chief Cory Heffelfinger says adjustments have been made to improve traffic flow, including efforts to prevent backups along 7th Street and avoid blocking nearby businesses.
Customers say the demand has been noticeable, with some reporting wait times approaching an hour during peak periods.
Police say they are continuing to monitor the situation and plan to reassess traffic control measures ahead of the weekend, when crowds are expected to increase.
Officials say traffic has eased somewhat since the initial rush, but the new location remains a major draw in the area.
