(COLDWATER, MI) - A wrong-way crash on I-69 is sending a Branch County woman to prison. According to the Coldwater Daily Reporter, 36-year-old Nerissa Judd was sentenced Thursday to between 14 months and five years after pleading no contest to operating while intoxicated as a third offense.

The conviction stems from an October 10, 2025 crash near Coldwater's Exit 13. Authorities say Judd drove north in the southbound lanes of I-69, crossing the median before colliding nearly head-on with a semi-truck.

Police had been pursuing her for about a mile and a half before the crash.

Judd was given credit for 160 days already served.

The semi driver, Ranbar Singh, has filed a lawsuit claiming serious head, neck, and back injuries. That case remains pending in Branch County Circuit Court.

During sentencing, Judd expressed remorse and said she was thankful no one was killed. Prosecutors say restitution may still be sought for damages not covered by insurance.
