(ANGOLA) - Temperatures are dropping sharply across the region today after yesterday's springlike warmth.

Afternoon highs will only reach the mid-40s, about 20 degrees colder than Wednesday, even with plenty of sunshine. Morning temperatures will struggle to climb out of the upper 30s by lunchtime.

The bigger change arrives late tonight and Friday as strong winds move in. Gusts could reach 45 miles per hour Friday, making it feel even colder despite slightly warmer temperatures.

The unsettled pattern continues through the weekend. Highs stay in the 40s Saturday before another major swing Sunday, when temperatures surge into the mid-60s with rain ahead of an arctic blast.

Colder air quickly follows. Snow showers and gusty winds are possible Monday, with highs only in the lower 30s.

Even colder air settles in for St. Patrick's Day Tuesday, when temperatures may only reach the upper 20s before a gradual warmup later next week.
