A Monday morning fire injured two people and destroyed a house in Sturgis.
Deputy Fire Chief Andy Strudwick says firefighters responded to a structure fire in the 400 block of West West Street at 4:10 AM.
Two of the residents were burned and taken by Life Care Ambulance to the Sturgis Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.
Heavy fire was found at a rear porch area of the home when firefighters arrived.
Due to the age of the home and the nature of the construction, fire crews had a difficult time reaching the fire. Many of the interior walls and ceilings had to be opened up as well as much of the siding in order to fully extinguish the blaze.
The cause of the fire is still unknown and remains under investigation. Damage estimates are not known.
