Auburn Woman Killed In Crash In Alaska

(KETCHIKAN ALASKA) – An Auburn woman was killed in a crash in Alaska.
The Ketchikan, Alaska Police Department says at 8:40 AM Alaska Time Thursday a car pulled out of a parking space and hit a 57 year old Auburn woman who was walking on the sidewalk. The Auburn woman was a passenger on a cruise ship. The car then crashed through a fence and into the Ketchikan Creek.
The woman’s husband went down the bank of the creek and attempted to help his wife. Others at the scene also went into the water to help the woman along with the driver who was stuck in the car.
Police along with the Ketchikan Fire Department and the U.S. Coast Guard were all called to the scene. The Coast Guard’s water rescue teams helped to pull injured individuals from the creek.
The Auburn woman and another individual were taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The Auburn woman was later pronounced dead.
Two others were also taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
No names have been released, and the matter remains under
investigation.
