(BUTLER) – Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in a two vehicle crash that injured one of the drivers.
The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office says at 4:10 PM Saturday, 38 year old Tyler Garten of Auburn was driving west in the 5200 block of County Road 28. A second vehicle, driven by 24 year old Seth Metcalf of Butler was heading east.
Deputies say that Garten told them his tires caught the shoulder of the road and he overcorrected. Garten says his vehicle fishtailed and he lost control, striking Metcalf’s vehicle on the rear driver’s side. Garten’s vehicle then went off the road and struck a tree.
Garten was taken to an area hospital to be treated for a head injury. His vehicle is a total loss. Metcalf was not injured, and his vehicle suffered rear end damage,.
The Butler Fire Department and Parkview EMS assisted at the scene. The crash is still being investigated.
