(UNDATED) – Today is the first day of the 2025-2026 school year for many districts in Michigan.

In St. Joseph County Sturgis, Centreville, White Pigeon, Constantine and Colon will have a half-day of classes for their students. Burr Oak will have a full day of classes, as will Bronson and Coldwater Schools in Branch County.

Three Rivers Schools will begin classes on Tuesday with a half-day, and Mendon will have their first day of school on August 25 with a half-day.

Area law enforcement agencies want to remind motorists to slow down when driving through school zones and while following school buses. Also remember to watch for students who may be walking to school or riding their bikes.
