ANGOLA - Angola High School Senior Holly Schneider has been awarded the 2024 Lilly Endowment Scholarship for Steuben County.

“Holly demonstrates all of the outstanding attributes required for this prestigious scholarship,” said Lisa Biers, vice president of programs at the Steuben County Community Foundation.

“We’re honored to recognize and applaud her hard work and academic success as she pursues a higher education degree.”

Schneider plans to attend the University of Notre Dame and double major in both neuroscience and psychology.

Each Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship provides for full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $900 per year for required books and required equipment for four years.

The scholarship is for full-time undergraduate students leading to a baccalaureate degree at any eligible Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university.

Lilly Endowment Community Scholars may also participate in the Lilly Scholars Network (LSN), which connects both current scholars and alumni with resources and opportunities to be active leaders on their campuses and in their communities.

Both the scholarship program and LSN are supported by grants from Lilly Endowment to Independent Colleges of Indiana (ICI) and Indiana Humanities.

In determining Steuben County’s Lilly Endowment Community Scholar nominees, consideration was given to impromptu essays, presentations, and interviews by the LECSP Scholarship Committee.

After the field of applicants was narrowed down, nominees were submitted to ICI, the statewide administrator of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, which approves the final selection of scholarship recipients.

“On behalf of SCCF and the nominating committee, I want to extend my congratulations to all Steuben County 2024 Lilly Endowment finalists,” said Biers.

“The five remaining finalists will receive the Steuben County Community Foundation’s Circle of Friends Scholarship. We understand the importance of investing in the next generation and are grateful to play a role in the journey of these talented scholars.”
