Unemployment Rates Up Around NE Indiana In July

INDIANAPOLIS – The unemployment rates in Indiana went up from 3.2% in June to 3.3% in July.

The national unemployment rate is at 3.5%.

In northeast Indiana jobless rates also went up from June to July.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released the July figures, and they show LaGrange County’s unemployment grew from 3.1% to 3.9%.

The largest increase in the area was Noble County, which went from 3.9% to
4.8%.

Steuben County only went from 2.9% to 3.3% and DeKalb County saw an increase from 3.3% to 3.4%. Elkhart County jumped from 4.4% to 5.2%.

In the City unemployment numbers, Goshen had an unemployment increase from 4.6% to 5.5% from June to July. Elkhart rose from 6% to 6.8%.
