HILLSDALE COUNTY – A Jonesville, Michigan man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for sexual exploitation of minors and numerous child pornography and criminal sexual conduct charges.

Tye Braxton Stiger, 35, is pending extradition from the Philippines by the Hillsdale County Prosecutor’s Office.

Stiger was arrested in early August by the Bureau of Immigration in Diego Cera Avenue, Las Pinas City near the Philippine capitol of Manila.

He was a former church volunteer and reported linked to two local churches.

The investigation of Stiger by the Michigan State Police began in February of 2023 after a victim came forward.

The victim alleged Stiger abused her as a child between 2009 and 2015 when he was a Sunday school teacher.

At least two women have now came forward alleging Stiger groomed them.

Additionally, a large amount of child pornography was discovered on electronics seized from Stiger’s home.

U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Michigan Mark Totten announced in a news release on Tuesday, August 15 that once Stiger is released from prison, he will spend 10 years on supervised release.

In a statement Totten said, “The sexual exploitation of our children will not be tolerated by my office. While we can never erase the trauma these young girls experienced at the hands of Mr. Stiger, today’s sentence shows that we are committed to protecting our most vulnerable and holding offenders accountable.”

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.

The investigation was conducted by the Michigan State Police, U.S. Marshals Service, and Homeland Security Investigations.
