101 Lakes Trust Annual Meeting Honors Hepworth and Hoos

Tammeron Jones-Francis accepts award on behalf of his mother Betty-Lee Hepworth from 101 Lakes Trust President Janet Albright.

ANGOLA - The 101 Lakes Trust recognized two women from Steuben County on Wednesday night at the Trine State Recreation Area's Wild Turkey Preserve during their Annual August Membership Meeting.

Honored during the meeting was the late Betty-Lee Hepworth who passed away in April.

Accepting the award was Hepworth's son Tammeron Jones-Francis.

Hepworth was recognized, "as an Environmental Visionary and co-founder of the 101 Lakes Trust. Her creative insight and unfaltering service led to the preservation of many lakes and land in Steuben County 2023."

Also awarded during the meeting was Ashlee Hoos of Fremont.

Hoos won the 101 Lakes Trust 2023 Writing Contest.

She described her piece as a "love story on the lake."

The 101 Lakes Trust's mission is to protect and enhance Steuben County's natural and built environment of lakes, rolling hills, streams and neighborhoods; to stimulate and support a sense of community through conservation, management, education and research.
