OVID TOWNSHIP, MICHIGAN - A semi trailer hauling paint caught fire on southbound I-69 on Saturday, August 12.

According to reports the fire happened around 5:20 p.m. on I-69 near E. Central Road in Branch County.

A semi hauling paint caught fire then proceeded to explode.

No injures were reported.

Both the the northbound and the southbound lanes on I-69 were temporarily shut down.

The northbound lane reopened shortly after the incident; however, the southbound lane remained closed until Sunday at around 4:20 a.m. for environmental hazard cleanup.

No injures were reported.

The incident remains under investigation by the Michigan State Police of the Marshall Post.
