MUNCIE - A mass shooting that took place in the early morning on Sunday, July 31 has had recent updates.

On man has died as a result of the shooting and at least 17 others were injured.

Delaware County Coroner Gavin Greene identified the victim of the fatal shooting as Joseph E. Bonner III, 30. of Muncie.

Muncie Deputy Police Chief Melissa Criswell said many of the victims were being treated at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, but those with critical injuries were flown to hospitals in Indianapolis.

Muncie Police Department Deputy Chief Melissa Criswell said that 18 individuals had gun-related injuries and one other person was injured because of “vehicular contact” after Sunday’s incident.

As of Monday, Criswell said four individuals were transferred to Indianapolis hospitals after the incident, one of whom has since been released. One of the individuals remains in critical condition.
