BRONSON, MI – Beginning this weekend, the City of Bronson will be flushing fire hydrants.

Bronson City Manager Brandon Mersman says the flushing is being done to keep with the practice of regular, routine water main cleaning.

Flushing will take place starting at 11 PM Sunday May 7 until 7 AM Monday, May 8. Then from 11 PM Monday May 8 until 7 AM on Tuesday May 9, and then from 11 PM Tuesday May 9 until 7 AM on Wednesday, May 10.
Mersman say the City apologizes for any inconveniences the flushing may cause.

On occasion, Mersman says the water in the areas of flushing may temporarily have a reddish/orange rusty appearance as flushing can disturb iron sediment in the water pipes and cause the discoloration. If this occurs, please run your cold water at the tap closest to your water meter for several minutes to clear your lines.

The City advises the public to refrain from doing laundry during the three days the flushing will be taking place.
