March Unemployment Rates Drop Around Southern Michigan

LANSING – March unemployment rates dropped around Southern Michigan.

​According to information released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, St. Joseph County saw their unemployment rate drop from 5% in February to 4.8% in March.

​Branch and Cass Counties both say their unemployment rates go down three-tenths of a percent from February to March. Branch County dropped from 4.9% to 4.6% while Cass County saw their unemployment rate go from 5.4% to 5.1%.

​Hillsdale County saw their unemployment rate decrease from 5.1% to 4.9%.
​Statewide, the unemployment rate decreased from 4.6% to 4.1%.

​Wayne Rourke, the Labor Market Information Director of the Michigan Center for Data and Analytics says Michigan regional labor markets recorded positive trends in March.
