COLDWATER, MI – Officials in Coldwater announced the Michigan Department of Transportation will begin a construction project on the west side of town next week.

The project is scheduled to start next Monday, May 1st when traffic will be restricted to one lane in each direction on U.S. 12 near the Coldwater River bridge while the road and bridge work is taking place.

Work includes approach and bridge repairs over the Coldwater River, as well as milling and resurfacing, joint repairs, guardrail, and concrete sidewalk improvements.

Drivers should use caution when driving on U.S. 12 west of Western Avenue while the work is in progress.

There will be a temporary signal at the Coldwater Bridge from late May through mid-August during bridge repairs.

MDOT says the project is expected to directly and indirectly support nearly 29 jobs.

The estimated end date for the project is November 17.
