Third Generation Firefighter Announces Retirement

ORLAND, IN - A long time first responder has announced her retirement as a volunteer team member with the Orland Fire And Rescue.

Broke Norton made an official announcement about her retirement from the Orland Fire Department to the Orland Fire Board on Tuesday night.

Norton, who is only 48, has served over half of her life with the Orland Department giving 29 years.

She is a legacy volunteer with the Orland squad. Both her father Kim Norton, and late grandfather Owen Norton, also served with the department.

In a social media post to family and friends, Norton said “I didn’t make it as long as my Grandpa, or Dad, but I did 29 years with everything that I had for the entire time.”

Norton said she has answered thousands of calls for service as a firefighter and first responder.
