By: Mike Stiles - Thursday, January 5, 2023

COLDWATER, MI – A man arrested for allegedly stabbing two men Monday afternoon has been arraigned.

Branch County District Court officials say 31 year old Dustin Sprague of Union City was arraigned on two counts of assault with intent to murder and a charge of first degree home invasion in connection with the incident that happened in the 1200 block of Burlington Road.

The victims have been identified by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department as 31 year old Edward Guilford of Union City and 33 year old Curtis White of Coldwater. Guilford is listed in serious condition at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. White was treated and released from Bronson on Monday.

Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the scene just after 12:30 PM Monday.

When they arrived, two men were holding Sprague on the ground. A third man was on the ground with multiple serious injuries and stab wounds.

After reviewing video footage at the scene and gathering statements from eyewitnesses, deputies arrested Sprague for assaulting the two men with intent to murder them.

District Court officials say that White told deputies that Sprague had worked for him, but was fired in 2021. White says he thought Sprague had been following him on the night before the stabbing.

Sprague plead not guilty to the charges. Bond was set at $1 million. He is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on January 17 and a preliminary hearing is set for January 24.
