By: Sheila McCrea - Saturday, December 24, 2022

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning until 1 PM Saturday afternoon.

Portions of our listening area affected the most include Steuben and LaGrange counties in Indiana, and branch in Hillsdale counties in Michigan.

The severity of the warning is considered moderate, but with the possible threat to life or property due to weather.

Forecasters say to expect dangerous wind chills, and blowing and drifting snow, but with little to no additional snow accumulation.

Things will be windy with winds gusting as high as 40 mph.

Plan on hazardous road conditions, especially on untreated roads and backroads. Some roads have been closed. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility and will create drifts on north to south roads. Isolated power outages have been reported. Dangerously cold wind chills between 20 below to 35 below zero will cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

It will remain dangerously cold and windy with areas of blowing snow through Saturday night.
