Indiana Michigan Power Lending A Helping Hand To Kentucky Power
By: Sheila McCrea - Monday, August 1, 2022

Indiana Michigan Power is helping provide mutual aid to its sister company, Kentucky Power.

The helping hand comes after catastrophic flooding disrupted electricity to 21-thousand customers in the Bluegrass state.

More than 80 I&M line workers, damage assessors, forestry experts, support staff and business partners were sent to eastern Kentucky. Crews will work 16-hour days to restore electricity to impacted communities where they will work around washed out and debris stricken roads, standing water, numerous downed trees and hilly terrains.

I&M crews from South Bend/Elkhart, southwest Michigan, Fort Wayne, Marion and Muncie will join more than 450 Kentucky Power employees, business partners and mutual assistance crews in Kentucky.

Crews will set new power poles, string new power lines and repair equipment until the last impacted customer is restored to service.
