ORLAND - This weekend the town of Orland is celebrating their heritage as the birthplace of Steuben County with their annual Orland Vermont Settlement festival.

In addition, they are honoring, long time resident Dorcas Norton. Norton will be the parade Grand Marshal.

At age 96, Norton made headlines just months ago for sky diving out of an airplane.

She and her family have had a long history with service to the Orland community, specifically with the Orland volunteer fire department and the library. Local children for years have even known her place as a great stop for homemade treats.

Norton will be leading today’s parade in Orland in a firetruck. The parade gets underway at 11 AM.
