Time To Flush For Montpelier Residents
By: Sheila McCrea - Wednesday, July 27, 2022

MONTPELIER, OH - The Montpelier Water Department will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing on Monday, August 8th.

Village officials say the flow testing is expected to be completed on or before Friday, August 26th. During that time, water customers may notice some discoloration in their water.

The village office reminds customers that these conditions are only temporary and the water is still safe to drink.

Customers are encouraged to double-check the tap water prior to using an automatic washer. The the discolored, iron-stained water may stain light-colored clothing. This condition may appear anytime during the day or night.

The water in the main lines should return to normal within 30 minutes or less of the crew leaving the area where testing is taking place. Stained water within a private plumbing system should clear out by letting the taps run a short time.
