Indiana Senate Committee Formulates An Inflation Relief Bill Different Than Governor Holcomb’s Plan
By: Sheila McCrea - Wednesday, July 27, 2022

INDIANAPOLIS - Abortion access and inflation relief in the Hoosier state are among some of the first key topics for debate during the special session for lawmakers.

The State Senate Committee approved an inflation relief bill by an unanimous vote Tuesday evening.

Dubbed ed as Senate Bill 3, the measure would suspends the 7 percent sales tax on utility bills for six months. Republicans say households would save an average of $120 over that same period.

The proposal is different than Governor Holcomb’s plan of sending $225 checks to Hoosiers.

The bill will now move to the senate floor.

The senate committee also approved Senate Bill 2, which provides $50 million dollars to support pregnant women, children, and families.
