Branch County Seeing Results With Solar Powered LED Red Flashing Stop Signs
By: Sheila McCrea - Tuesday, December 28, 2021

BRANCH COUNTY, MI - Solar powered LED red flashing stop signs at dangerous intersections in Branch County resulted in fewer accidents since installations began in June in four locations.

Now a total of 10 intersections in Branch County have the bright red flashing lights. The main road is a thru-road at each location, while traffic on the intersecting road must stop. Traffic counts do not allow for four-way stops at these intersections.

Since installation, there has been only one serious accident at a solar stop sign intersection.

The Branch County Road Commission will install five more two-sign sets at five more locations next week. Once those are installed, Branch County will have a total of 15.
