Three People Injured In Two Vehicle Crash

(VOLINIA TOWNSHIP) – Three people were sent to the hospital following a two vehicle crash.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department responded to an accident at 10:40 AM Sunday at the intersection of Marcellus Highway and Decatur Road in Volinia Township.

Deputies determined that 36 year old Christopher Cleveland of Marcellus was traveling west on Marcellus Highway when the second vehicle, driven by 31 year old ChenSheng Guan of Flushing, New York failed to yield at the intersection and pulled out in front of Cleveland.

Cleveland and a passenger in the Guan vehicle, 42 year old Xiachong Wan of Flushing, New York, were both taken to Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac. Another passenger in the Guan vehicle., 63 year old MaoSong Lin of Brooklyn, New York, was taken to Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Guan and a third passenger, 40 year old GuiYun Liu of China, were not injured.

Deputies say everyone was wearing their seat belts and airbags in both vehicles activated.

Also assisting at the crash were the Dowagiac and Wayne Township Fire Departments, the Michigan State Police, along with Pride Care Ambulance, Marcellus Ambulance and Van Buren Medical Services.

The crash is still under investigation.
