Salvation Army Closing Gap In Donations
By: Sheila McCrea - Thursday, December 23, 2021

(STURGIS) – The Salvation Army of St. Joseph and Branch Counties is starting to gain some momentum for the 2021 Red Kettle Campaign.

Major Tim Sell says they have received many new volunteers for bell ringing, and as a result, there has been an increase in donations. As of December 21, Sell says they have received $20,11,515.58 in donations towards its’ $60,000.00 goal. Overall donations from all sources for the fundraising period totaled $77,829.74 compared to approximately $118,507.71 this time last year.

Sell says they still have a long way to go to operate this next year within their already modest budget, but he is very encouraged by the generosity of the community.

Major Sally Sell says due to the generosity of patrons at local stores, restaurants, banks, churches, and service clubs, the toy and food distribution has been a huge success. She says Branch County distribution served 89 families with 226 children, while St. Joseph County had 101 families with 292 children.

If you would like to sign up to ring bells, you can either call 269-651-4275, or go on line to Register To Ring dot com.
