By: Mike Stiles - Wednesday, October 6, 2021

(JOHNSON TOWNSHIP) – Several people were injured in a three vehicle crash in LaGrange County's Johnson Township.

The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office says 21 year old Gage Naylor of LaGrange was turning east onto County Road 450 South from State Road 9 just before 10 PM Saturday. Naylor failed to yield to a vehicle traveling north on State Road 9, driven by 47 year old Melissa Bontreger of LaGrange and the automobiles collided head on.

Bontreger's vehicle went off the east side of the road and into the ditch.

Naylor's automobile spun sideways and came to rest in the middle of State Road 9. A third vehicle, traveling north and driven by 41 year old Omar Caballero of Howe, struck Naylor's automobile on the driver's side.

Naylor and his juvenile passenger were injured, as was Bontreger and the several juvenile passengers in her vehicle. There were also several juveniles in the Caballero vehicle that were injured, while Caballero was not hurt.

The injuries ranged from complaints of pain to possible internal injuries. All of the injured individuals were taken to Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

Assisting at the scene were the Wolcottville and LaGrange Police Departments, the Johnson Township Fire and Rescue, Parkview LaGrange, Parkview Noble and Parkview DeKalb EMS.
