One Person Injured In Collision Between Semis
By: Mike Stiles - Friday, October 1, 2021

(STURGIS) – One person was injured in a collision between two semis on the east side of Sturgis.

Sturgis Deputy Director of Public Safety Andy Strudwick says the Sturgis Police and Fire Departments were called to an accident involving two semis at 5:26 Thursday morning at the intersection of East Chicago Road and Lakeview Avenue. First responders arrived and found a semi had rear ended another semi on East Chicago Road as it cleared the intersection.

Officers found the driver of the second semi unresponsive. He was taken from his truck and transported to Sturgis Hospital by Life Care Ambulance. The driver of the first semi was not injured.

Strudwick says both east and west bound traffic was re-routed around the accident scene, due to the large amount of debris and oil in the roadway. Chicago Road was re-opened around 9:30 AM.
