THREE RIVERS – One hundred new jobs are being created at a Three Rivers manufacturing facility.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation announced that American Axle & Manufacturing will be creating the new jobs at their Three Rivers facility. The company is planning to invest $38.6 million in the project. The Michigan Strategic Fund also approved a five year SESA Exemption valued at almost $469,000. Additionally the City of Three Rivers was awarded $2 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to assist with adding necessary machinery and equipment for the project. At least 51% of the 100 positions will be filled by low to moderate income individuals. The Three Rivers site was chosen for the expansion over the company's facility in Mexico.

Three Rivers City Manager Joe Bippus says the City is pleased to support American Axle in their expansion. He says American Axle has been an important part of the community for many years, and this project will help them continue to grow and provide good jobs in the area. State Senator Kim LaSata says this is great news for the Three Rivers community. She says in addition to the creation of new jobs, the project will help modernize a facility that is vital to Michigan's auto industry.

Founded in 1994, American Axle is a global Tier 1 supplier that designs, engineers and manufactures driveline and metal forming technologies that are making the next generation of vehicles smarter, lighter, safer and more efficient for the auto industry. The company has 16 facilities in Michigan with over 3,200 associates.
