By: Sheila McCrea - Wednesday, June 9, 2021

CORUNNA, IN – A driver was sideswiped after signaling left, but turned right as another car tried to pass on the right side Tuesday.

Deputies with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to the intersection of U.S. 6 and County Road 19 on reports of a crash just after 4 p.m.

Reports indicate a Ford Focus, driven by Michael Light, age 39, of Hamilton, was traveling eastbound on U.S. 6 and signaled left, but instead turned right onto County Road 19. While the car was turning, an eastbound Kia, driven by Rebecca Jasckson, age 54 of Fort Wayne, passed the Ford on the right side and sideswiped the car.

Investigators determined both cars came to a rest a yard off of the southeast corner of the intersection.

Authorities report Jackson was transported to a DeKalb hospital for back pain.

Assisting the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department on scene was the corona fire department, Parkview EMS, and the Waterloo Town Marshall.
