Indiana New Law - Regional Growth

A bill aiming to spur growth in Northeastern Indiana is headed to the Governors desk.

House Enrolled Act 12-38 would make a Northeast Indiana Strategic Development Commission.

The goal of the commission would be to attract talent- and skilling up hoosiers to meet the needs of area employers.

State Representative Dave Heine of Fort Wayne wrote the bill.

We are going to make sure our communities take full advantage of effective programs, and additional funding so we all prosper, said Rep. Heine.

The commission would develop plans and policies to drive up personal income and population growth in 11 counties-- including Steuben and DeKalb counties.

The bill awaits the governors signature. If passed- commission’s the first strategic plan would be done by September 30th.
