Hillsdale County, MI - A man is dead after a house fire in Hillsdale County.

According to the North Adams Fire Department, the fire started around 9:30 a.m. Saturday morning on South Hillsdale near West Main and Toledo. Reports indicate there was a an “elderly” man and woman inside of the home when the fire started.

The man, who has not been identified at this time, reportedly died in the fire. Fire officials say a woman in the house was able to get out safely.

The house is a total loss.

The incident is under investigation by Michigan State Police.
