COLDWATER – Charges have been brought against a Bronson man following an investigation.

Branch County District Court officials say 32 year old Rex Otis III was arrested on March 4, after an investigation was conducted by the Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit. He was arraigned on March 5, on charges of possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

The investigation began with the Michigan State Police's Fifth District Computer Crimes Unit in Coldwater after they discovered an individual was downloading a large quantity of sexually abusive material. Officers were given a search warrant for Otis's residence and they confiscated digital evidence.

Following an interview with Otis at his residence, troopers obtained an arrest warrant and took Otis into custody. Otis is scheduled to have a preliminary examination on April 1. He is being held on a $25,000 bond.
