ANGOLA, IN - Area authorities were able to recover a vehicle stolen on Sunday with the help of On-star.

Steuben County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the 4900 block of East County Road 100 North in Steuben County's rural Scott Township on a report of vehicle theft. The initial investigation indicated that someone entered a detached unlocked garage on the property and took a black 2020 Chevy Tahoe.

Authorities say the keys were reportedly inside the vehicle at the time of the theft. During the course of the investigation, Deputies made contact with On-Star who assisted with locating the vehicle via GPS. The vehicle was then located traveling westbound on Orland Road.

Responding units coordinated an interception of the vehicle with On-Star and were able to locate the vehicle in 5800 block of North County 500 W. The vehicle was found to be occupied by a suspect identified as 45-year-old Bridgett Marie Nash of Barryton, MI.

Nash was taken into custody and booked into the Steuben County Jail on a preliminary charge of theft of a motor vehicle, a level 6 felony. The vehicle was seized and processed by the Sheriff's Office before being released back to the owner undamaged.

The Sheriff's Office would like to remind citizens not to leave vehicles unsecured with the keys easily accessible.

Assisting the Steuben County Sheriff's Office along with On-Star were the Indiana State Police, Indiana Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division, Angola Police, and the Orland Town Marshal's Office.
