Steuben County, IN - Area firefighters from Steuben and LaGrange Counties battled a weekend barn fire.

At approximately 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon, the Salem Volunteer Fire Department was called to a barn fire. First units on the scene found a pole barn style structure with heavy smoke and flames.

The barn appears to be a total loss.

Salem fire crews received mutual aid from Orland, Stroh, Steuben Township, Ashley/Hudson departments with both tankers and manpower. Also assisting was the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, Steuben County EMS, and Steuben County Dispatch.
