FABIUS TOWNSHIP – Two people were injured in a two vehicle collision in Fabius Township.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says at 8 AM Sunday, an 80 year old Middlebury man was driving a minivan north on U.S. 131 and attempting to turn west onto Broadway Road. The driver disobeyed a prohibited left turn sign and a traffic signal, pulling in front of a southbound SUV, driven by a 50 year old Battle Creek man.

The vehicles collided and were pushed into the lawn of a nearby business.

A passenger in the minivan was treated at the scene for minor injuries. A female passenger in the SUV was taken to Three Rivers Health with non life threatening injuries.

Deputies say everyone was wearing their safety belts. The Three Rivers Fire Department and the Fabius Township Fire Department assisted at the scene.

The driver of the minivan was cited for the crash.
