BRANCH COUNTY, MI – A two vehicle crash late Monday afternoon in Branch County’s California Township sent a Northwest Ohio woman to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash took place just after 5 p.m. when two pick up trucks collided at the intersection of South Fremont and Copeland Roads . One of the trucks reportedly ended up in a field.

Reports indicate 36-year-old Ryan Diveley of Kokomo, Indiana failed to yield for a stop sign and collided with the other pickup which was driven by 45-year-old Tammy Shafer of Edon, Ohio.

Investigators say the Diveley vehicle was hauling trailer cargo too heavy for the pickup, pushing the his vehicle through stop sign and causing the accident. He was cited by authorities for careless driving.

Shafer was taken to an area hospital by family members.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash.
