Tuesday, September 15, 2020

WOLCOTTVILLE, IN - On Sunday, the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office received a Disorderly Complaint regarding a male who was yelling, swinging a wooden stick/broom handle, and who did not belong on the property 7500 S block of CR 215 E. Officers responded to the area and found Mark King of Wolcottville on the victim’s property. Mark was hallucinating and under the influence of an illegal drug.

Investigation revealed Mark King had consumed some methamphetamine on Friday and Saturday night. He then began to see people trying to steal his property and break into his residence. At some point he believed he had been in a gun battle with these imaginary men and women at his residence. Mark then fled to near-by neighbor’s residence where he made his way into an unsecured garage. There Mark threw his now unloaded handgun at the window breaking the interior pain of a garage entrance door at that location. From there Mark fled from that garage to where he was located by the police.

Further investigation revealed that Mark was suffering from what officers believe was an episode of excited delirium and he was transported to the Parkview LaGrange Hospital where he was treated and later released to the police. Mark was then booked into the LaGrange County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Paraphernalia.
Mark was later advised of his legal rights and interviewed where he then gave a recorded statement, then gave written consent to a search of his residence, motorhome and enclosed trailer.

There officers discovered the interior of the residence had multiple bullet holes throughout the residence that were made from someone shooting from inside of the residence. There were three weapons located and seized at that location and a fourth weapon was located and seized from a neighbor’s garage.

This matter is still under investigation at this time. Assisting in this investigation was the Indiana State Police Crime Scene Investigation Unit and Parkview Medics.
