County Commission Going Back To In Person Meetings
By: Mike Stiles - Monday, September 14, 2020

CENTREVILLE – The St. Joseph County Commission will be going back to holding their meetings in person.

The matter was discussed during last week's Executive Committee meeting. County Administrator Teresa Doehring says there is space in the Commission Room to socially distance and allow for 35 people. The Commissioners will also have to be spaced out a little more and everyone will have to wear a mask while they are in the room together.

With going back to in person meetings, Doehring says the public would have to be temperature checked before they can enter the building, and if allowed to enter, they would have to wear masks.

The question was brought up about doing the meeting in person and continuing to have them on line. County I.T. Director Dustin Bainbridge says it wouldn't be hard to keep having the on line option. He says Circuit Court is looking to use the Commission Room for jury trials and some of the same equipment would be used.

Bainbridge says they may have to look at getting some more microphones for the Commission Room to make sure everyone can be heard when they speak.

After some further discussion, the Commission agreed to start having their regular meetings in person on October 6th. They also agreed to keep having their Executive Committee meetings on line.
