Appreciation Meal Served to Staff at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility
By: Sheila McCrea - Tuesday, September 8, 2020

CARLISLE, IN - This past week each staff member at Wabash Valley Correctional Facility was served a meal in appreciation for the service they provide on a daily basis. In addition to a meal, several staff members also received a Department of Natural Resource park pass.

The annual meal, known to the staff as “The Commissioner’s Meal,” began in 2019 as a way to reach out to all staff. It is the IDOC way of expressing appreciation for working in a challenging environment to protect society and help rehabilitate individuals in a prison environment.

Programs Director Michele Lincoln was very impressed with the meal. She commented, "The meal was awesome. I appreciate the time and effort Aramark put into preparing it. I also appreciate the fact that the Warden and Deputy Wardens helped serve the meal."

Employee Patti Axe enjoyed what will be her last Commissioner’s Meal as she will soon retire after 25 years of dedicated service.
