COVID-19 Positive Employees At Center For Health And Wellness
Thursday, June 25, 2020

Anyone who sought care at the Center for Health and Wellness of Sturgis since June 15 is asked to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms.

Rebecca Burns, Health Officer with the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says four staff members at CHW have tested positive for the virus.

Any patients who had close contact with a staff member at CHW and either the patient or staff member were not wearing a mask are further asked to self-quarantine for 14 days. Burns says wearing a mask is the best thing that everyone can do, even when seeing a medical provider, to minimize transmission of COVID-19. A mask helps to stop droplets that contain the virus from circulating in the air where someone with symptoms has been.

The CHA is asking anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to get tested and to
self-isolate to prevent exposing others. Individuals that have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19 need to self-quarantine for 14 days
and monitor themselves for fever, cough and shortness of breath. Coronavirus symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus.

Burns says we should continue to wash our hands with warm water and soap;
avoid close contact with sick people and disinfect commonly touched surfaces.

People who are concerned that they may have COVID-19 should contact their
healthcare provider and call ahead before visiting any healthcare facility.
