Monday, June 15, 2020

On Monday morning just after 5:30 am, Steuben County Sheriff's Deputies responded to the area of County Road 350 East north of County Road 100 North in Steuben County's rural Scott Township for a report of vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.

Upon crews arriving on scene, it was determined that two motorcycles had collided in the incident. 31 year old Andrew Jones of Ashley, IN was operating a 2008 Yamaha motorcycle southbound in the 1400 block of north County Road 350 East when he made a left hand turn into a private drive way into the path of an oncoming northbound 2004 Honda motorcycle being driven by 25 year old Charles Carpenter of Columbia City, IN. The motorcycles collided causing both Jones and Carpenter to sustain injuries.

Jones was transported to Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, IN by Steuben County EMS for treatment. Carpenter was transported to Cameron Hospital in Angola, IN by private vehicle for treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash, and neither driver was wearing a helmet.

Assisting the Sheriff's Office at the scene were the Angola Fire Department and Steuben County EMS.
