Fabric Weaving Instructor: Anne Eyster
Weaving materials together dates back 12,000 years. You don’t need a fancy loom to make a stunning wall hanging. Learn how to setup a cardboard loom, 3 weaving techniques, removal from the loom, and how to embellish your wall hanging. This class is for the novice weaver.

Color: Making it Work Together and for You
Instructor: John Kelty
The Steuben Arts Scene is fortunate to have John Kelty for this professional series workshop. John has a degree in Commercial Art from the University of St. Francis in Fort Wayne, he entered the printing industry for the next 20 years. He is a member of the Watercolor Society of Indiana, the American Watercolor Society, the Indiana Plein Air Painters Assoc. and past president & current board member of the Fort Wayne Artists Guild. Explore color mixing techniques designed to make your journey into COLOR MIXING both enjoyable and effective. Whether a beginner or seasoned painter, these methods are celebrated for their stunning clarity in achieving results. The goal of this course is to deepen your understanding of the fundamental connection between colors and values. John will guide you through translating the physical properties of primary colors into a vast spectrum of hues.

Understanding the Color Wheel, Balance and Values
Instructor: Kathy Falls
Learn the basics of color mixing using a color wheel and the importance of a limited palette. Reflective and transmitted colors will be discussed. The proper use of light will be discussed. Students will have a hands-on portion to the class.

Introduction to Pastels Instructor: Judy Houk
Soft (chalk) pastel classes are the perfect way to relax, de-stress, and tap into your inner-artist. Learn endless art techniques in your soft (chalk) pastel painting lessons,including: self-expression through color, layering, blending, composition, personalized subject matter, texture, pastel color mixing, and more.

2 Days: Wed 7/17, Wed 7/31 5:30PM - 8:30PM
Portraits Instructor: Jan McCauley
The ultimate goal of life drawing is to develop one’s skills through careful observation and interpretation of the human form in it’s endless variations. This class is for any level, beginner through advanced. The primary emphasis will include basic anatomy, contour line, tonal values, perspective, an ongoing enhancement of observational and memory skills manifested through the practiced handling of the artist’s medium.

Principles of Composition & Design Instructor: Kathy Falls This is a Lecture series class. A workbook that will explain correct composition and design will be provided. This class will incorporate old master’s techniques. Participants should bring their artwork and see how their composition and design elements work for them.

Intro to Glass Fusing Instructor: Vicki Thompson
Fused glass has become very popular because of all the versatility, raw materials available, fewer tools needed (although a kiln is needed) and it is generally easier to do than stained glass. Basically, fused glass is the melting of glass together and shaped into many options.

Glass Holiday Tree/Wreath Instructor: Vicki Thompson A fused glass holiday tree or wreath will be created. Basics of fused glass and glass cutting will be reviewed.
