(ANGOLA) - A grant from the Steuben County Community Foundation is helping uninsured Steuben County residents get the medications and care they need through Matthew 25 Health and Care, keeping critical services available as health care costs continue to rise.
The funding supports Matthew 25's onsite pharmacy and medication assistance program, which provides life-saving prescriptions and follow-up care for patients with chronic conditions who have no health insurance. Clinic leaders say the support helps prevent medical crises by ensuring patients can stay on their treatment plans.
Matthew 25 provides free medical, dental, vision, and mental health care to low-income, uninsured adults across northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio. The clinic says foundation support is especially important for patients who would otherwise be unable to afford prescriptions or ongoing care.
Over the past year, Matthew 25 served more than 30,000 patients throughout the region, including 183 visits from Steuben County residents.
Services go well beyond routine medical visits. Patients also receive dental care, vision screenings, mental health counseling, social work support, vaccinations, transportation assistance, and health education. During the same period, the clinic's pharmacy filled 28,564 prescriptions and provided 225 pairs of eyeglasses, helping remove barriers to care for patients with limited options.
